Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Monday warned opposition forces against attempts to destabilise the ruling party in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

The duo spoke during a rally at the Abakaliki Township Stadium organised to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.

At the event attended by Governors Charles Soludo of Anambra and Hope Uzodinma of Imo, as well as the representative of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, APC leaders insisted that Ebonyi remained firmly under the control of the ruling party.

Nwifuru particularly dismissed speculations that President Tinubu had allegedly conceded Ebonyi State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“We are standing here today to tell the whole world that we have only one party in Ebonyi State and that is APC,” the governor declared.

He warned those allegedly using the president’s name to create division in the state to desist, insisting that Ebonyi people would resist any political intimidation.

“Ebonyi is not for sale. Nobody should push us because we have all it takes to resist anyone trying us,” he stated.

The governor said the state would overwhelmingly support Tinubu in 2027, arguing that the president had demonstrated commitment to the South East through key appointments and infrastructure projects.

According to him, the appointment of Senator David Umahi as Minister of Works had brought unprecedented federal attention to the region.

Also speaking, APC National Chairman Yilwatda declared that there was “no vacancy” for the PDP in Ebonyi State, insisting that the APC would retain the governorship and all elective positions in the next election cycle.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, described Ebonyi as a one-party state under Nwifuru, adding that Tinubu had done more for the South East than previous administrations.

The endorsement rally caused heavy traffic congestion across major roads and adjoining streets in Abakaliki metropolis.
