The Ezza Ezekuna people of Ebonyi State have endorsed Governor Francis Nwifuru for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election, declaring their continued support for his administration during a rally held in Onueke.
The endorsement rally, which attracted community leaders, political stakeholders and residents from across the area, was described by participants as a demonstration of confidence in the governor’s leadership and developmental strides.
Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, who represented Governor Nwifuru at the event, received the endorsement on behalf of the governor and expressed appreciation to the people for their loyalty and support.

She said the large turnout reflected the cordial relationship between the administration and the Ezza Ezekuna people, assuring them that the governor remained committed to delivering on his campaign promises.
Obila recalled that Governor Nwifuru had promised during the 2023 electioneering campaign to position Ezza land on the global map, noting that the ongoing development of the international airport in Onueke was already giving practical expression to that vision.

According to her, the airport had started receiving private aircraft, while efforts were ongoing to expand facilities and strengthen operational structures ahead of full commercial operations.
The deputy governor, who described Ezza as her “second home,” assured residents that the administration would continue to provide infrastructure, empowerment programmes and other democratic dividends across the state before the expiration of its first tenure.
She also conveyed the governor’s gratitude for the endorsement and reaffirmed his determination to intensify efforts in delivering good governance beyond 2027.
Earlier, a communiqué presented by Prof. Chike Onwe stated that the Ezza Ezekuna people had unanimously adopted Governor Nwifuru as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The communiqué noted that the endorsement represented the collective political position of the people and urged all sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna extraction to support the decision in the interest of unity and continuity.
It further appealed to political office holders, party leaders and stakeholders from the area to work towards the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebe, commended the administration for restoring peace and stability in communities previously affected by insecurity and communal clashes.
He said the governor’s intervention through peace committees and dialogue initiatives had helped in resolving longstanding disputes, thereby enabling residents to return to their normal activities.
Omebe also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, empowerment schemes and scholarship opportunities provided by the administration for students studying within and outside Nigeria, including beneficiaries in the United Kingdom.
He added that the people of Ezza were prepared to reciprocate the governor’s performance with massive support in the 2027 election.
Dignitaries at the rally included the Chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area, Chief Innocent Ugo Chima; Commissioner for Rural Development, Mr. Jude Okpor; John Elom; and other political and community stakeholders.
