Barrister Amanda Pam has emerged as the standard bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senatorial District following the conclusion of the party’s primary process.
Her emergence comes amid lingering reactions from fellow aspirant Aisha Yesufu, who has maintained that she did not voluntarily withdraw from the contest before its conclusion.
Yesufu, in earlier statements, rejected reports suggesting she stepped down from the race, insisting she contested the primary to the very end. She alleged that the outcome of the process had been predetermined and described it as procedurally compromised.

According to her, accepting the outcome was a strategic decision taken in the interest of party unity and the larger political objective, rather than an admission of defeat.
“This is not the end. What we built, the network, the credibility, the grassroots trust, cannot be taken away in a backroom,” she stated.
While Yesufu has not publicly disclosed her next political move, her remarks have continued to generate debate within political circles and among supporters.
Meanwhile, supporters of Barrister Amanda Pam argue that her grassroots credibility and longstanding political engagement position her strongly ahead of the general election. Many believe her emergence strengthens the party’s chances in the FCT senatorial contest.
Political observers say the development sets the stage for what could become an intense and closely watched race, with the coming months expected to reveal how internal party dynamics shape the broader electoral landscape.
