The Electoral Panel for the National Assembly Primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the deployment of officials and electoral materials for the conduct of the party’s House of Representatives and Senate primary elections across Bayelsa State.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Solomon Ogba, made this known during a press briefing held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, ahead of the commencement of the exercise.
Mr. Ogba disclosed that members of the committee have fully arrived in the state and have commenced the necessary processes aimed at ensuring a smooth, credible, and transparent primary election for the emergence of the party’s candidates for the National Assembly polls.
According to him, the committee has carefully selected competent and credible individuals to oversee the elections in all wards and federal constituencies across the state, stressing that the integrity of the exercise remains a top priority for the party.
“The committee has distributed all the necessary electoral materials to the designated polling areas across the state. The APC in Bayelsa State has adopted the direct primary option in line with Section 84, Subsection 2 of the Electoral Act for the conduct of this exercise,” he stated.
He assured party members and stakeholders that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee a free, fair, peaceful, and transparent process, adding that only persons of proven integrity and accountability were appointed to conduct the exercise.
Mr. Ogba further called on party faithful to conduct themselves peacefully and participate actively in the democratic process, noting that the primary election represents a crucial step toward strengthening internal democracy within the party.
The committee chairman also commended the Bayelsa State Government, security agencies, and the people of the state for their cooperation, peaceful disposition, and support towards ensuring a conducive atmosphere for the successful conduct of the primaries.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the committee to delivering a credible process that would reflect the will and aspirations of APC members across the state.
