OSOGBO — Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has taken an early lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the collation of results across the state.
The latest available provisional figures show Adeleke ahead of his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As of the latest aggregation, Adeleke has 452,719 votes, while Oyebamiji has 373,003 votes, giving Adeleke a provisional lead of 79,716 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is in third position with 15,056 votes.
The figures are based on results uploaded from polling units and remain subject to further updates as outstanding results are received and collated.
Earlier results from 3,291 of the state’s 3,763 polling units had been counted, while 3,292 polling-unit results had been uploaded to INEC’s IReV portal, representing about 87.48 per cent of the expected results.
Adeleke’s lead had also been reported at an earlier stage of the collation process, when results from 303 of Osun’s 332 wards showed him ahead of Oyebamiji. At that stage, Adeleke had 177,572 votes against Oyebamiji’s 158,588.
However, no final winner has been declared by INEC at this stage. The figures remain provisional until the outstanding results are collated and the Returning Officer formally declares the winner.
The 2026 Osun governorship election is being contested across the state’s 30 local government areas, with Adeleke seeking another term against Oyebamiji and other candidates.
NewspilotNG will continue to monitor the official collation and provide updates as INEC releases further results.
