There were smiles, cheers and heartfelt expressions of gratitude in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Rowland Sekibo Bob-Fubara, handed over brand-new cars to the council’s principal officers and councillors in a remarkable show of appreciation for their service.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the beneficiaries received the keys to their new vehicles, with many describing the gesture as one they never expected so early in the administration.
For the recipients, the cars represented far more than a means of transportation. They were seen as symbols of trust, recognition and a renewed commitment to public service. Some councillors said the gift would ease the challenges of moving around their wards, enabling them to stay closer to the people they represent.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman Bob-Fubara said the initiative was aimed at motivating members of the legislative arm and strengthening teamwork in the council.
He urged the beneficiaries to see the vehicles as working tools rather than personal rewards, encouraging them to remain dedicated, accountable and focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Akuku-Toru.
The colourful ceremony drew applause from community leaders, party faithful and residents, many of whom hailed the chairman for promoting harmony between the executive and legislative arms of the local government.
For many in attendance, it was more than a vehicle presentation—it was a celebration of recognition, unity and a leadership style that rewards commitment while inspiring greater service to the people.
