Nollywood actress and the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State, Doris Ogala, has stirred reactions on social media after declaring that the people of the state have “no choice” but to accept her as their next governor.
Ogala made the statement in a post shared on her social media page, where she expressed confidence in her ambition to lead Abia State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
According to the actress-turned-politician, her emergence as governor is inevitable, insisting that residents of the state would eventually embrace her leadership.
Her declaration has since generated mixed reactions online. While some supporters praised her confidence and encouraged her political aspirations, others questioned the tone of the statement, arguing that leadership in a democracy is determined by the electorate through the ballot box.
Ogala recently declared her intention to contest the Abia governorship election on the platform of the African Action Congress (AAC), promising to bring a new style of leadership focused on development, accountability, and improved governance.
The actress is one of several entertainers who have ventured into Nigerian politics in recent years, reflecting the growing involvement of public figures in elective offices.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of the election, observers say the contest is expected to attract significant public attention, with candidates intensifying efforts to win the support of voters across the state.
Neither the Abia State Independent Electoral authorities nor other major political parties had officially responded to Ogala’s remarks as of the time of filing this report.
