A new reality television project, “Ebonyi Next Superstar,” has been unveiled with the aim of discovering, nurturing and promoting talented youths in Ebonyi State and across Africa.
The initiator of the project Rodstick Eze said the programme was conceived out of passion to create opportunities for talented young people seeking a platform to showcase their abilities and achieve stardom in the entertainment industry.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday in Abakaliki, Eze disclosed that the reality show is designed not only to identify talented individuals but also to groom participants into complete superstars by equipping them with the qualities required for success in the creative industry.
He noted that many talented persons fail to attain stardom because talent alone is not enough to make someone a superstar.
“There are certain qualities that make a superstar beyond talent. Creativity, composure, social skills and public appeal are all important factors. Many people are gifted but never become stars because those qualities are missing,” he said.
The organiser explained that the project seeks to bridge the gap between raw talent and the attributes needed for global recognition and success.
He further stated that the maiden edition of the reality show would hold in Ebonyi State in line with the belief that “charity begins at home,” while future editions are expected to expand to other states, countries and continents.
The project, he added, is both a talent development initiative and a promotional platform for upcoming artistes and content creators.
The first season of the show will focus mainly on music and content creation, areas described as critical tools for youth empowerment and self-reliance in the digital age.
According to the organiser, music remains one of the strongest forces that connect people emotionally, while content creation has emerged as a major source of employment and economic empowerment for young people worldwide.
He noted that the rise of the internet and digital media has created enormous opportunities for youths, including those without formal educational qualifications, to become successful influencers, entertainers and entrepreneurs.
“The world has gone digital and content creation has become one of the strongest tools for self-reliance. Many young people today are making a living and becoming globally recognised through the internet,” he stated.
He further observed that the creative industry has become one of the highest employers of labour in Nigeria after agriculture, stressing that the project would help talented youths in Ebonyi State tap into the opportunities provided by the digital economy.
Explaining the format of the reality show, the organiser disclosed that ten contestants would be selected to live together in a house for twenty days, where they would participate in various creative and entertainment tasks.
He said the eventual winner would emerge through public voting based on overall performance, creativity, personality and entertainment value.
The official unveiling of the “Ebonyi Next Superstar” project and the introduction of contestants are scheduled to take place on July 25.
The organiser called on the media, stakeholders and the public to support the initiative, describing it as a platform aimed at helping young talents in Ebonyi State achieve stardom and access global opportunities in the entertainment industry.
