The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, Barrister Tochukwu Ogalagu, popularly known as T-Man, has pledged to prioritise job creation and youth empowerment programmes aimed at reducing unemployment and curbing insecurity in the area.

Ogalagu made the pledge during an engagement with youths and constituents across the federal constituency, where he identified unemployment as a major driver of social unrest, crime and insecurity among young people.

According to the APGA candidate, meaningful employment and economic empowerment remain the most effective ways to address the growing challenges facing young people.

He said elected representatives must move beyond offering temporary palliatives and instead focus on creating sustainable opportunities that can improve livelihoods.

“The first thing a representative ought to do is to take youths off the streets. When youths are gainfully employed, there will be no conflict. What we are offering is not rice or handouts but opportunities for employment and empowerment,” Ogalagu said.

The House of Representatives hopeful unveiled a development agenda anchored on youth employment, education, skills acquisition and infrastructure development.

He promised to facilitate employment opportunities for youths, establish vocational and skills acquisition centres, and support entrepreneurship initiatives to equip young people with practical and marketable skills.

Ogalagu also pledged to provide scholarships for indigent students and sponsor postgraduate education for qualified youths from the constituency, stressing that investment in education is critical to sustainable development.

In addition, he outlined plans to empower women economically through cassava processing initiatives and the provision of soft loans to support small-scale businesses and agricultural ventures.

According to him, empowering youths and women would not only improve living standards but also promote peace, security and economic growth across the constituency.

He urged residents of Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency to support leaders with clear development agendas, assuring them that his focus would remain on delivering programmes and opportunities capable of transforming lives and advancing the fortunes of the constituency.
