The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, weekend said that no opposition presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election can match the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially in the South East region.

Umahi stated this during an inspection tour of ongoing federal government projects across Ebonyi State alongside members of the Renewed Hope Media Team.

The minister, a former governor of Ebonyi State, said President Tinubu had demonstrated fairness and inclusiveness to the South East through massive infrastructure development across the region.

He disclosed that Governor Francis Nwifuru would on Monday lead stakeholders in Ebonyi State to formally endorse President Tinubu as the sole candidate of the state for the 2027 presidential election.

“We are very grateful to the President and happy with what our governor is doing. On Monday, the governor will lead all of us to demonstrate our appreciation to Mr. President,” Umahi said.

He added: “We are not voting for anybody else other than the President and the governor because none of these presidential aspirants can do what Tinubu is doing for the people of the South East.”

According to him, the region had long agitated for inclusion and equity in the affairs of the country, stressing that the Tinubu administration had responded positively to those demands.

“South East has been included. It is the inclusiveness that we have been crying for and today we have it under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.

Umahi further said the federal government’s N25 billion Onueke flyover project in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State would be completed on or before December this year.

Managing Director of Age Link Group, Chief Enekwachi Akpa, whose company is handling the project, said work had progressed significantly despite the contractor not yet receiving mobilisation funds from the federal government.

Akpa noted that residents of Ebonyi Central Senatorial District were excited about the project due to its expected economic and social benefits.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South East, Mrs. Chioma Nweze, described Tinubu’s administration as inclusive and development-oriented.

She listed several ongoing federal road and bridge projects in the South East, including the Enugu-Onitsha Road, Enugu-Port Harcourt Road, Enugu-Abakaliki Road and the Ndibe Beach Bridge linking Ebonyi and Cross River states.

Nweze said the projects reflected the president’s commitment to integrating the South East into the national development agenda.

“We are going to vote for the President en masse because we are seeing promises that have been fulfilled and not mere promises,” she said.
