Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has awarded a university scholarship to Master Obasi Victor Nnanna, the highest scorer in Ebonyi state in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Nnanna, a student of King David Gifted Academy, Abakaliki, scored 356 marks in the examination to emerge the overall best candidate in the state.
The statement announcing the scholarship was signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Francis Nwaze, Thursday.

It was disclosed shortly after Umahi received news of the student’s outstanding academic performance from the management of the academy established during his administration as governor of Ebonyi state.
Reacting to the development, Umahi expressed gratitude to God and commended the student for the exceptional feat.
“I give God the glory. I offer scholarship to this child,” the minister stated.
Nnanna belongs to the pioneer set of King David Gifted Academy, an elite institution founded in 2016 by Umahi with the aim of promoting academic excellence and grooming future leaders.
The institution has continued to record impressive academic achievements and has gained national recognition for excellence in learning and character development.
