The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah, has intensified efforts towards repositioning agriculture as a major driver of economic growth and rural development in the constituency ahead of the 2027 political cycle.

Ogah, who highlighted his agricultural interventions and achievements in office, said his vision was to transform Ikwo/Ezza South into a hub for commercial agriculture, food production and agro-industrial development.

The federal lawmaker noted that between 2019 and 2023, his office distributed fertilizers, improved farm inputs and financial support to farmers, cooperative societies and rural women groups across the constituency to boost food production and improve livelihoods.

According to him, the interventions significantly enhanced agricultural productivity, empowered local farmers and created economic opportunities for youths and women in rural communities.

He further stated that since 2023, he has continued to champion policies and constituency programmes aimed at strengthening agribusiness, encouraging youth participation in modern farming and expanding the agricultural value chain.

Ogah explained that his agricultural agenda was focused on moving farming activities in the constituency from subsistence level to a profitable commercial enterprise capable of generating employment and wealth for the people.

The lawmaker also unveiled plans to attract greater federal investments into the agricultural sector through mechanised farming, establishment of agro-processing industries, improved access to agricultural financing and strengthening of cooperative societies.

He stressed that the vision aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, particularly in the areas of economic diversification, food sufficiency, job creation and inclusive growth.

Stakeholders in the constituency described the lawmaker’s interventions as impactful, noting that many rural farmers had benefited from the distribution of fertilizers, inputs and empowerment programmes facilitated by his office.

They expressed optimism that sustained investments in agriculture would further improve food production, stimulate rural economies and reduce unemployment in Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency.
