A coordinated security operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State has led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminal elements accused of terrorising residents across several rural communities.
The Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government, Dr. Christopher Audu Manship, confirmed the development, describing it as a major breakthrough in the council’s ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.
According to available information, the suspects, who reportedly operated on motorcycles along rural routes and village pathways, were arrested during joint security operations carried out by security agencies in the area.

Items recovered from the suspects include cash, stolen property and livestock allegedly taken from residents. Sources said some of the suspects confessed to their involvement in various criminal activities, including attempted kidnappings targeting employers and wealthy families within the local government area.
Reacting to the arrests, Manship reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime, stressing that anyone involved in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.

He warned criminals operating within the council area to reconsider their actions, stating that Qua’an Pan would no longer be a safe haven for criminal elements.
“This operation sends a clear message that crime does not pay. We remain committed to protecting the lives and property of our people,” he said.
The council chairman commended the professionalism and swift response of security personnel whose efforts led to the successful arrests and recovery of stolen items, some of which have reportedly been returned to their rightful owners.
Manship attributed the success of the operation to the commitment of security agencies, divine intervention and the support of the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang.
He further noted that security remains a collective responsibility and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information that could help prevent crime.
“Qua’an Pan is becoming stronger and safer, and this achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when communities and security agencies work together,” he added.
Efforts to obtain comments from the police command on the arrests were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report, although security surveillance has reportedly been intensified across the local government area.
