The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi state under Chief Silas Onu has distanced itself from a purported stakeholders’ meeting allegedly held in Abakaliki, describing its organisers and participants as impostors.
The party also declared that Mrs. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor is no longer the chairman of the ADC in Ebonyi state, insisting that her tenure expired on May 19, 2026.
In a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Igu Idika, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki, the party said any statement or decision taken by Adibe-Nwafor after the expiration of her tenure remains personal and does not represent the position of the ADC in the state.

The statement was reacting to a publication titled: “2027 Polls: Ebonyi ADC backs Atiku, launches party unity drive,” which allegedly emanated from an all-stakeholders’ meeting held at Vigo Event Centre, Abakaliki.
The party maintained that the authentic ADC primaries for the 2027 general elections were conducted on May 21 and 22, 2026, by the duly recognised leadership of the party in line with its constitution and guidelines.
It warned that individuals parading themselves as ADC candidates without participating in the party primaries lack legitimacy and should be disregarded by the public.
“Anyone claiming candidacy without participating in those primaries is an impostor and has no mandate from the party,” the statement said.
The party further alleged that the meeting convened by one Hon. Tobias Nnabike Oriji was not an ADC meeting but “an APC-aligned gathering masquerading as an opposition meeting.”
It stated that no approval, notice or mandate was issued by the recognised ADC leadership in Ebonyi state for such gathering.
According to the statement, all resolutions, endorsements, committees and caretaker arrangements announced at the meeting are invalid and have no effect within the party.
The ADC leadership in the state reaffirmed its commitment to due process, internal democracy and building a credible opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party advised members of the public, party faithful and the media to disregard all statements, appointments and resolutions emanating from the disputed meeting.
