The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the public to disregard various primary election results currently circulating on social media, insisting that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the authority to announce official outcomes.

In a press statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., the NDC clarified that the results of its nationwide primaries conducted on May 28 and 29, 2026, remain under the custody of the party’s NEC.

The party warned against relying on unofficial reports and social media publications, describing them as unauthorized and misleading.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement read.

According to the party spokesman, the NEC is solely responsible for the announcement of results from the primaries and will communicate the official outcomes at the appropriate time.

The statement further disclosed that, on the directive of the National Leader of the party, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, a crucial NEC meeting has been scheduled in Abuja to deliberate on matters arising from the primaries and finalize the process.

Osa Director said all NEC members have been directed to arrive in Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting slated for Tuesday, June 2, while the main NEC meeting will hold on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The meeting is expected to review the reports from the nationwide primaries and ratify the list of successful candidates who will represent the party in future elections.

The NDC assured party members, stakeholders, and the general public that the official results of the primaries would be made available once the party completes internal procedures and submits the names of its candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the INEC,” the statement added.

The development comes amid growing speculation and conflicting reports over the outcome of the NDC primaries across different states, with several names already being circulated online as winners of governorship and other elective positions. The party’s leadership, however, insists that only official announcements from the NEC should be regarded as authentic.
