Speaking during the exercise, the Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, Captain Sunday Haruna, said the outreach was organised to enable host communities feel the impact of the Nigerian Navy’s anniversary celebration while strengthening civil-military relations.

According to him, the Navy considers a healthy community as essential to growth and development.

“We decided to organise this free medical outreach because we believe that a healthy community is a resilient community. When people are healthy, they are better positioned to engage in legitimate activities that promote development and progress,” Haruna said.

He added that under the leadership of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Navy remained committed to ensuring that residents of host communities benefit from quality healthcare services and other interventions.

Haruna described the outreach as a gesture of goodwill and assured the community that the Nigerian Navy would continue to undertake initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of residents.

Beneficiaries commended the Navy for the initiative and expressed appreciation for the services rendered.

Chief Darius Amalanyo praised the Nigerian Navy for the outreach, noting that residents were satisfied with the medical tests conducted and medications provided.

Similarly, Mrs Grace Biolagha thanked the Navy for selecting Beletieama for the programme, saying the community was delighted by the gesture and would continue to hold the Nigerian Navy in high regard.
