Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has reiterated her preference for a peaceful life outside the Presidential Villa, dismissing suggestions about a possible return to Aso Rock through her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking during a public event, Patience Jonathan said she values the peace and freedom she now enjoys after years in public office, stressing that she has no desire to return to the pressures associated with national leadership.
Her remarks come amid renewed political speculation over whether former President Goodluck Jonathan could seek Nigeria’s presidency again. However, Jonathan has not officially declared any intention to contest and has only acknowledged calls from supporters while maintaining that consultations continue.

Patience Jonathan’s comments have since generated reactions online, with some social media posts circulating unverified claims about private conversations between the former First Lady and her husband regarding presidential ambitions.
There is currently no verified evidence supporting the widely shared quote describing an alleged personal exchange between the couple about a return to Aso Rock.
Observers say the resurfacing of old political discussions and viral social media content continues to fuel public debate ahead of future electoral cycles, even as no formal political announcement has been made by the former president.
