Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, is set to commission and flag off 15 major road projects across Aba North, Aba South, and Osisioma Local Government Areas as part of his administration’s ongoing urban renewal and infrastructure development programme.

The projects, spread across key residential and commercial areas of Aba, are aimed at improving road connectivity, reducing transportation difficulties, and boosting economic activities within the commercial city and surrounding communities.

In a statement issued by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the exercise forms part of the government’s broader strategy to reposition Aba as a modern commercial hub through the rehabilitation and expansion of critical infrastructure.

Roads scheduled for commissioning include Adelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road, and Assemblies of God Church Road in Osisioma, alongside Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Road, Etche Road, and Mosque Road.

Other projects billed for either commissioning or flag-off are Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Crystal Park Road, and the 7-UP–Umuchichi Link Road.

Governor Otti is also expected to flag off the first phase of the Aba Ring Road project connecting Umuaduru and Okpulo Umuobo in Osisioma, a development considered vital for improving traffic flow and expanding economic access across the Aba axis.

Kanu said the projects demonstrate the administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, improved urban mobility, and sustainable economic growth.

According to him, the road interventions are expected to improve living standards for residents while supporting trade, investment, and business activities in Aba, often regarded as the economic hub of Abia State.

“The projects form part of the larger infrastructural revolution currently transforming communities across Abia State under the purposeful leadership of Governor Alex Otti,” the statement noted.

The commissioner added that residents, business owners, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders were expected to participate in the commissioning and flag-off events as the government continues to deliver people-centred projects across the state.

Since assuming office in 2023, the Otti administration has prioritised road rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aba and other parts of Abia State as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and strengthen public infrastructure.
