For a few hours on Wednesday, politics took a back seat as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, embraced a role that mattered more than any public office—that of a proud father.
Inside the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, Wike joined family, friends and well-wishers to celebrate his daughter, Jazmyne Wike, who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree, earning an Upper Second-Class Honours.
Accompanied by his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike, and their sons, the occasion was filled with smiles, photographs and heartfelt congratulations as the family marked a significant academic milestone.
For Jazmyne, years of studying, sacrifice and determination culminated in a moment that will remain unforgettable. For her parents, it was the reward of watching a daughter achieve one of her biggest dreams.
The ceremony also drew several prominent Nigerians, reflecting the wide network of relationships the former Rivers State governor has built over the years. Among those in attendance were Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) Aaron Chukwuemeka, former Cross River PDP governorship candidate Prof. Sandy Onor, APC governorship candidate in Rivers State Hon. Kingsley Chinda, Executive Director of Projects at the South South Development Commission Hon. Marcus Nle Ejii, House of Representatives member Hon. Victor Obuzor, and This Nigeria publisher Eric Osagie, among others.
Beyond the gathering of political figures, the day served as a reminder that behind every public office holder is a family that celebrates life’s personal victories.
As Jazmyne begins her journey into the legal profession, her graduation stands as an inspiration to young Nigerians, showing that dedication, hard work and commitment to education can open doors to limitless opportunities.
For the Wike family, Wednesday was not about politics or public office—it was about celebrating a daughter’s achievement and a proud family’s shared joy.
