The Bayelsa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding technical and vocational education as the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) and the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Education pledged stronger support for the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training (IEVT), Elebele.
The renewed commitment came during separate engagements with the management of the Institute, led by its Rector, Dr. Zuobomudor Edwin Agbana, who highlighted the institution’s vision, achievements, and plans to broaden access to practical skills training for young people across the state.
Dr. Agbana also outlined areas where strategic partnerships would help strengthen the Institute’s capacity, particularly in building stronger collaborations with technical colleges and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship and vocational skills development.
During the meeting with the Education Development Trust Fund, the Executive Secretary praised IEVT for its impressive growth and the impact it has made in equipping youths with employable skills.
He assured the Institute of the Fund’s willingness to collaborate in key intervention areas and disclosed plans to visit the institution to assess its facilities and identify practical areas where the Trust Fund can provide support to boost technical education and human capital development in Bayelsa State.
In a related development, the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Education, led by its Chairman, Hon. Dr. Charles Daniel, conducted an oversight visit to the Institute.
Following a detailed presentation by the management on the Institute’s achievements, challenges, and future development plans, the lawmakers commended the leadership for the remarkable progress recorded despite existing challenges.
The Committee assured the management that its requests and recommendations would receive due consideration, reiterating the government’s commitment to building a modern, world-class technical and vocational education system capable of empowering young people with relevant skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.
The engagements underscore the Bayelsa State Government’s growing emphasis on skills acquisition and vocational education as critical drivers of youth empowerment, innovation, and long-term economic development.
