BREAKING: Tension has erupted in Biseni Community, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as angry residents staged a protest over what they described as years of neglect by oil companies operating in their area.

The protest turned chaotic after a 70-year-old woman was allegedly beaten during the unrest, sparking outrage among community members. Protesters accused the oil firms of failing to provide adequate compensation, development projects, and other benefits despite years of oil exploration in the community.

Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the demonstrators demanded justice, fair treatment, and immediate intervention from both the Bayelsa State Government and relevant federal authorities. They insisted that their community has continued to suffer environmental degradation and economic hardship while receiving little or no meaningful support from the companies operating there.

Security personnel are reportedly monitoring the situation as residents vow to sustain the protest until their demands are addressed.
