YENAGOA – The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has intensified its awareness campaign against human trafficking, child abuse, and violence against persons through a sensitisation programme at Government Secondary School, Agbura, Yenagoa.
The outreach, held on June 11, 2026, brought together students and teachers as part of efforts to educate members of the school community on the dangers of human trafficking and related offences.

Leading the campaign team, Head of the Public Enlightenment Unit, Mr. Sambo Wariebi, sensitised participants on the tactics used by traffickers, warning students to be cautious of deceptive promises and suspicious relationships that could expose them to exploitation.
Wariebi highlighted common indicators of human trafficking and urged the students to remain vigilant at all times. He advised them to be mindful of the company they keep and to promptly report any suspected cases of trafficking or abuse to NAPTIP through its office or official communication channels.
According to him, raising awareness among young people remains critical in the fight against human trafficking and other forms of exploitation.
To further reinforce the campaign message, the NAPTIP team distributed Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials to participants, providing additional information on trafficking prevention and reporting mechanisms.
Teachers and students who participated in the sensitisation programme expressed appreciation to the agency for the initiative and pledged their support in combating human trafficking by reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
The school outreach forms part of NAPTIP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public awareness and encourage community participation in the fight against human trafficking, child abuse, and violence against persons across Bayelsa State.
