Reading the caucus’ letter on the floor of the House, Tajudeen said Agbedi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Bayelsa State, was selected by consensus due to his experience and legislative background to fill the vacancy created by the exit of Kingsley Chinda, who stepped down from the position to pursue a governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the new Minority leadership arrangement, the caucus also nominated Hon. Manu Mansur Soro as Minority Whip, while Hon. Abdulsamad Dasuki was named Deputy Minority Leader.
Meanwhile, Hon. George Ozodinobi, who had been acting as Minority Leader following Chinda’s resignation, has now reverted to his former position as Deputy Minority Whip.
The announcement formalises a fresh leadership structure within the Minority caucus in the House of Representatives.
