A varsity Don, Dr Kayode Eweka, is currently mourning the passing of Elder Felix Ebhoman Ezoguan, a revered Elder of the Church of Christ and community leader from Uromi, Esan North-East LGA, Edo State. He died at the age of 79.
Announcing the sad event, his son-in-law, Dr. Kayode Eweka, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the University of Benin, Benin City, and General Secretary of the Benin Royal Family, described the late elder as “a devout Christian whose life radiated faith, humility, and service to humanity.”
In a statement issued and signed by Dr. Eweka and made available to journalists, he said: “My inlaw, Elder Felix Ebhoman Ezoguan, the father of my wife, was a devoted Christian and Elder of the Church of Christ. He was well known for his commitment to humanities and as a community leader in Uromi, Benin City, and beyond. Before he passed on, he touched the lives of many through his counsel, generosity, and unwavering integrity.”

Dr. Eweka noted that the late elder was a bridge-builder who mediated conflicts, supported the less privileged, and raised children with discipline and love. “Elder Felix Ebhoman Ezoguan will be remembered for his great parenthood and loving kindness while alive. He was a father to all, a man of peace who never turned his back on anyone in need,” he stated.
Born and raised in Uromi, the late elder became a household name for his quiet but impactful leadership. In both Uromi and Benin City, he was consulted on family matters, community development, and church affairs. His home was known as a place of refuge where wisdom was freely given.
The family announced that a Service of Songs in his honour will hold on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at 4:00pm at the Doctor’s House, Benin-Lagos Road, around UBTH Ugbowo, Benin City.
Praying for his repose, Dr. Eweka said: “We commit his gentle soul into the hands of the Almighty God. May He grant him eternal rest, and grant the family, the Church of Christ, and the people of Uromi the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Elder Ezoguan leaves behind a wife, children, grandchildren, in-laws, and a host of mourners across Edo State who celebrate a life that exemplified Christ-like service.
