The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of major road and infrastructure projects across the nation’s capital, announcing that several of them are ready for commissioning.

Speaking after inspecting ongoing and completed projects, Wike said the construction of the Renewed Hope City Access Road in Karsana District is nearing completion, describing it as a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving access to affordable housing within the FCT.

According to the minister, the Renewed Hope City project in Karsana is now 98 per cent completed and is expected to unlock access to thousands of affordable housing units for residents of the territory.

Wike also confirmed that the 17-kilometre Old Keffi Road project, stretching from Kado Village and Life Camp Junction through to the Dei-Dei axis, has been cleared for commissioning. He noted that the road will significantly improve connectivity for residents of densely populated communities including Saburi, Gwagwa, Idu and Karmo.

He explained that upon full completion, the road corridor would provide direct access to the Outer Northern Expressway, helping to reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion within the affected communities.

The minister further commended the pace of work on FCT Highway 105, linking Airport Road to Kuje, describing the progress as impressive. He added that Phase One of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road project has also been completed, noting that both projects have transformed the physical outlook and transportation network within the Kuje area.

According to him, the road projects form part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Administration to improve mobility, stimulate development and enhance economic activities across satellite towns and urban districts.

Wike also inspected the remodeling of the Abuja City Gate, a project he described as a landmark initiative conceived by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu. He disclosed that the project remains on schedule and is expected to be formally handed over in early June.

The minister said the remodeled City Gate would give Abuja a modern and more welcoming appearance, reinforcing the capital city’s status as a symbol of national pride and development. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life for residents of the FCT.
