Yenagoa, Bayelsa State: The Bayelsa State Government has officially reopened the newly upgraded Yenagoa City Park, unveiling a transformed recreational hub designed to boost tourism, family leisure, and social engagement within the state capital.
The once-dormant Peace Park has now been revamped into a modern entertainment destination featuring a zoo, water park, roller-skating arena, slam-dunk court, archery range, mini-golf course, horse-riding section, and several other exciting attractions. Residents described the unveiling as a “breath of fresh air” for the state’s tourism and hospitality sector.
Speaking during the reopening, stakeholders praised Governor Douye Diri — widely referred to as the “Miracle Governor” — for prioritizing urban renewal and recreational development as part of his administration’s broader transformation agenda. The project is also credited to the efforts of the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism Development, John Alla whose office oversaw the redesign, installation of new facilities, and expansion of visitor spaces.
Families, fun seekers, and tourists trooped into the park in large numbers on its first day, expressing delight over the variety of attractions and the improved safety and aesthetic features. Operators say the park is expected to create new jobs and generate revenue for the state while offering residents a safe space to unwind.
With the revamped Yenagoa City Park now open to the public, the Bayelsa government says it remains committed to promoting tourism-driven development and strengthening leisure infrastructure across the state.
