Law firm demands ₦1bn from DavidoBy Rhoda Godwin

A Lagos-based law firm, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, has issued a pre-action notice to Nigerian music star Davido, born David Adedeji Adeleke, over alleged harassment, threats, cyberbullying and defamation directed at one of its partners, Ebelechukwu Enedah.

In the notice, the firm reportedly demanded ₦1 billion in damages, a public apology and the immediate retraction of the disputed social media posts.

The development is believed to be connected to the ongoing dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade Adeleke. Although details of the specific posts were not immediately disclosed, the legal action follows recent tensions that played out on social media.

Sophia Momodu and Davido have had a long-standing co-parenting relationship marked by intermittent public disagreements since welcoming their daughter in 2015. Issues relating to custody, financial responsibilities and communication have periodically surfaced online, drawing reactions from fans and the public.

As of press time, Davido had not publicly responded to the pre-action notice, while representatives of Sophia Momodu had also not issued an official statement regarding the latest development.

Legal analysts note that a pre-action notice is a formal step taken before the commencement of a lawsuit, giving the recipient an opportunity to respond or resolve the matter amicably.

The situation adds a new legal dimension to the already publicized relationship between the music star and Sophia Momodu, with observers awaiting further updates on whether the dispute will be settled out of court or proceed to litigation.
