Public engagement, civic participation, and strengthening trust between government and citizens have taken center stage in Edo State following the appointment of Mercy Johnson Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
Her appointment was announced by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, as part of efforts to deepen inclusive governance and enhance communication between the government and the people.
Reacting to the development, Johnson Okojie expressed profound gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in her, describing the role as a call to connect, listen, and advocate with purpose.
She pledged to approach the responsibility with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to service, affirming her full alignment with Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, which prioritizes responsive and practical governance as well as sustainable development.
According to her, the position is fundamentally about the people of Edo State — their voices, stories, and participation in governance. She assured residents that her office would focus on strengthening civic engagement, building trust, and advancing a people-centered Edo where every voice truly counts.
