WOMAN, NDTV strengthen partnership on women-focused tax compliance advocacy

Concerns over how emerging tax policies affect women, small businesses and households dominated discussions as Women Organized for Mentorship and Advocacy Network (WOMAN) engaged Niger Delta Television (NDTV) to strengthen tax compliance advocacy.
The visit to the General Manager of NDTV, Mrs. Inato Esukul, was aimed at seeking media partnership and institutional support to enable sustained public enlightenment programmes on taxation, especially as it relates to women in the informal sector.

Speaking during the engagement, the Executive Director of WOMAN, Lady Eunice Nnachi, emphasized the importance of working closely with the media to simplify and disseminate information on new tax laws.
She noted that many women lack access to clear and practical guidance on taxation, leaving them vulnerable and unprepared.

According to her, collaboration with NDTV would provide platforms for structured programmes, discussions and public service content that demystify tax processes, encourage compliance and promote economic inclusion.
She added that informed citizens are better positioned to contribute to national development while protecting their economic interests.
Lady Nnachi also announced the organisation’s second-year anniversary scheduled for January 31, explaining that the celebration would feature focus group discussions and stakeholder engagements aimed at empowering women with practical knowledge on governance, taxation and economic participation.
In her response, Mrs. Esukul described the initiative as timely, noting that the new tax laws have generated widespread public debate across the country.
“Our new tax laws are being talked about by many. It would be nice to know how they would affect women, how women can prepare for them, and understand the issues that revolve around taxation,” she said.
She commended WOMAN for its consistency and impact within its two years of existence and congratulated the organisation on its forthcoming anniversary, assuring them of NDTV’s readiness to support public education and women-focused advocacy initiatives.
Both organisations expressed commitment to future collaboration aimed at amplifying women’s voices, promoting tax compliance and fostering inclusive socio-economic development in the Niger Delta and beyond.
