In another remarkable display of generosity and commitment to grassroots development, Bayelsa-based comedian and event host, Senibo Ebitimi Ogoniba, popularly known as MC Senibo, has sponsored the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration fees for 157 secondary school students drawn from Odioama and Okpoama communities in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The celebrated entertainer made the announcement through a post on his social media platforms, describing the gesture as a personal contribution towards promoting quality education and empowering young people in his home communities.
“By the special grace of God, I am delighted to announce that I have successfully completed the payment of WAEC registration fees for a total of 157 students from our dear communities of Odioama and Okpoama communities in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State,” he wrote.
According to the breakdown provided by MC Senibo, Government Secondary School, Okpoama recorded 74 beneficiaries, while Community Secondary School, Okpoama benefitted 30 students out of 43 eligible candidates captured in this phase. Community Secondary School, Odioama accounted for 53 students.
He explained that the initiative reflects his passion for education as a powerful tool for transformation, social mobility and sustainable development.
“Education remains the most powerful tool for empowerment, progress and breaking the cycle of poverty. By removing the financial barrier to WAEC registration, I hope to enable these students to sit for their examinations with confidence and focus on their studies, paving the way for brighter futures for themselves, their families and our entire kingdom,” he stated.
For many families in the riverine communities of Brass, the cost of external examinations often poses a serious challenge, sometimes forcing students to abandon their academic pursuits. MC Senibo’s intervention therefore comes as a timely relief to parents, school administrators and the students themselves.
Community leaders and parents have commended the entertainer for using his personal resources to invest in the future of young people, noting that such acts of kindness inspire hope and encourage collective responsibility in community development.
A school administrator in Okpoama described the gesture as “a morale booster for both students and teachers,” adding that it would motivate the beneficiaries to take their studies more seriously and strive for academic excellence.
Beyond the financial assistance, MC Senibo encouraged all stakeholders — parents, teachers, community leaders and the students themselves — to ensure full participation, discipline and adequate preparation ahead of the examinations.
He also expressed deep gratitude to God for the opportunity and capacity to give back to society, emphasizing that true success finds meaning when it uplifts others.
As the beneficiaries prepare to sit for their WAEC examinations with renewed confidence, the initiative stands as a strong reminder that impactful leadership and social responsibility can come from all sectors, including the creative industry. MC Senibo’s gesture continues to position him not only as a respected entertainer but also as a committed advocate for youth empowerment and educational development in Bayelsa State.
