The Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu, Tuesday empowered 250 physically challenged persons in Ebonyi State with N50m re-capitalization grant.
Each of the beneficiaries received N200,000
Wife of the President, Remi Tinubu represented by the wife of Ebonyi state Governor,Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru disclosed this in Abakaliki during Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment program/ 2026 world Disability Day.
The first lady of Ebonyi state further disclosed that 9,500 persons with disability across 36 state of the federation would benefit from the RHI re-capitalization grant.
“This event holds special significance as it consigned with the international day of persons with disability and it’s being launched simultaneously across the thirty six state of the federation, the federal capital territory and the defense and police officers wives association.
“Our nation grows stronger when every initiative, an individual is empowered to contribute meaningfully.As Helen keller, the renewed American disability rights advocate once said, alone we can do little, together we can do much. this word remind us that truly Inclusive society built when we stand together, creating opportunity that empowered everyone to contribute the unique gift of our collective progress.
“Today, the renewed hope initiative will provide some of two hundred thousand naira business re-capitalization grant to Two hundred and fifty persons with disabilities in each state.And the federal capital territory to support small business owners to recapitalize their existing business and strengthen their means of livelihood.
“So each state of the federation, the fct and the defense and police officer wives association, will each receive fifty million naira to be distributed to the beneficiaries in their domain.In total, 9,500 persons with disabilities across nigeria will be benefiting from this program, which is amounting to the sum of one billion nine hundred million.
“This program aligns with the renewed hope initiative of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu , which seeks to promote inclusive growth and shared prosperity by ensuring that no Nigeria is left behind, especially those whose needs are often overlooked that is disabilities.
“But in Ebonyi state we don’t overlook them it is worth nothing that over the past two years the renewed hope has afforded hundred thousand women petty traders and small business owners, including persons with disability with direct financial grant to grow their businesses.
“Our commitment to improving life has also been demonstrated through our various initiative and intervention in agric economy, empowerment, education, health, and social welfare and at improving the well being of families across our country.
“Our social investment program has provided financial and material support to victims of floods,communal clashes and the disaster as well as the elderly widows and orphans of our fallen heroes through this RHI, monthly food outreach scheme.
“We have so far delivered food item to 22 states and the FCT. We also provided food items to internal displaced persons and other vulnerable communities.
“We remain committed to doing even more to uplift lives and bring hope to those in need in recognition of our shared responsibility to provide inclusion the governing board of the renewed hope initiative has provided a reserve to mark the economy empowerment program for People living with disability and annual events to be held december 3rd in commemoration of the international day of persons with disability.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of this opportunity given to them.
Mrs.Tinubu however commended Governor Francis Nwifuru and wife for supporting the initiative and constantly caring for persons living with disability.
The beneficiaries also receive bags of rice and cash donation from the wife of the governor.
Chime Odimegwu Franklin, state chairman people living with disability appreciating RHI requested the state government to accept and enact disability commission law to help the people harness more challenge.
