Bayelsa Woman Buried in Coca-Cola Bottle-Shaped Casket

A funeral ceremony in Emeyal 1 community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, drew widespread attention after an elderly woman was laid to rest in a uniquely crafted Coca-Cola bottle-shaped casket.

Late Madam Afuwari Ego, aged 85, was buried over the weekend in what many described as one of the most creative and unconventional caskets seen in recent times. Images from the event, captured by blogger Ogbara Walson Henry, quickly spread as residents and guests gathered to witness the rare tribute.

According to family members, the unusual casket design was inspired by Madam Ego’s lifelong love for Coca-Cola. They explained that she enjoyed the beverage so much that the family wanted her final journey to reflect something she cherished deeply.

Community members praised the craftsmanship of the casket maker and commended the family for honoring the deceased in a memorable and personal way.

The funeral ceremony, attended by relatives, friends, and well-wishers, has since become a topic of conversation across Bayelsa and beyond, highlighting how personal preferences and creativity continue to shape burial traditions in Nigeria.
