SSS Dismisses 115 Personnel in Major Internal Reform DriveThe Department of State Services (DSS), also known as the State Security Service (SSS), has dismissed 115 of its personnel as part of an ongoing internal reform aimed at strengthening discipline and professionalism within the agency.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, the secret police said the mass dismissal followed a thorough internal review that identified personnel who violated service rules, engaged in misconduct, or were found unfit to continue serving in the agency.

According to the statement, the move is part of the Service’s broader effort to “sanitize its workforce, uphold integrity, and ensure that only disciplined and dedicated officers remain in service.”

“The DSS is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards. The recent disengagement of 115 personnel is part of our internal reforms to rid the Service of unwholesome elements whose conduct falls short of the Service’s core values,” the statement read in part.

The Service, however, assured the public that the decision was taken after due process and in accordance with established disciplinary procedures. It further emphasized that the reform would enhance public confidence in the agency’s operations and strengthen its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s internal security.

Observers see the move as one of the most extensive internal shake-ups within the DSS in recent years, signaling the agency’s renewed commitment to accountability and professionalism.
