The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has congratulated Professor Uduma Orji Uduma on his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) by the institution’s Governing Council.
In a statement issued from the Government House, Abakaliki, on Monday, Governor Nwifuru described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Professor Uduma’s exceptional academic accomplishments, visionary leadership, and immense contributions to the field of philosophy and national development.
The Governor noted that Professor Uduma, a renowned scholar of philosophy, has consistently demonstrated excellence in academia, mentoring several generations of students and contributing significantly to intellectual discourse both within and outside Nigeria. He added that the new Vice Chancellor’s scholarly works and professional integrity have brought immense pride to Ebonyi State and the nation at large.
Governor Nwifuru expressed confidence that Professor Uduma would deploy his vast experience and commitment to advancing the core mandate of the National Open University of Nigeria. According to him, the scholar’s leadership will further strengthen the institution’s drive toward expanding access to quality higher education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities across the country.
“Professor Uduma’s appointment is a testament to his years of dedication to scholarship, leadership, and service to humanity. His intellectual rigour and passion for knowledge have distinguished him as one of Nigeria’s finest minds,” the Governor stated.
He further assured that the Ebonyi State Government remains proud of Professor Uduma’s achievements and will continue to support indigenes of the state who excel in their chosen careers, thereby projecting the image of Ebonyi as a hub of intellectual excellence and moral integrity.
