Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a strong warning following recent tensions between Iran and Israel, stating that Tehran’s latest response was only a “fraction” of its full military capability.
Speaking shortly after the incident, Araghchi revealed that Iran deliberately exercised restraint, citing respect for international calls to de-escalate the situation. According to him, the limited nature of Iran’s response should not be mistaken for weakness, but rather a calculated decision to avoid further escalation.
“Our response to Israel’s attack on our infrastructure employed a fraction of our power,” he said. “The only reason for restraint was respect for requested de-escalation.”
The Iranian foreign minister, however, warned that any future attacks on the country’s infrastructure would trigger a far more forceful reaction. “There will be zero restraint if our infrastructures are struck again,” he added, signaling a potential shift in Iran’s posture if hostilities continue.
Araghchi also emphasized that any meaningful resolution to the conflict must include accountability for damage inflicted on civilian facilities. He stressed that Iran considers such attacks unacceptable and a violation of international norms.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with concerns growing over the possibility of a broader conflict in the Middle East. While global stakeholders have continued to call for calm, the latest remarks from Tehran suggest that the situation remains volatile.
