FRSC Ebonyi Extends Lifeline to Motherless BabiesBy Amara Ehia, Abakaliki

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ebonyi State Command, on Wednesday reaffirmed its humanitarian commitment with the donation of relief materials and cash to a motherless babies’ home in the state.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Nnamdi Asanya, led officers of the command on a visit to the Holy Innocent Motherless Babies Home,Azuebonyi Abakaliki, where he said the gesture reflected the Corps’ dedication to saving lives beyond road safety enforcement.

According to him, humanitarian service remains an integral part of the FRSC’s mandate, noting that officers of the Corps regularly volunteer to donate blood to accident victims suffering severe blood loss.

“As an organization, our humanitarian role has not ended. It is part of the nature and calling of the FRSC,” Asanya said.

He explained that the visit followed a fellowship held at the command, which was organized to promote love, compassion, and support for vulnerable groups, particularly motherless and orphaned children.

Items donated to the home included bags of rice, toiletries, shoes, and other household essentials.

The sector commander described the donation as a “seed” meant to encourage other well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations to support orphaned and vulnerable children in society.

He added that a cash donation was also presented to assist the home in meeting its daily needs, stressing that the support was given selflessly and without expectation of reward.

Receiving the items, Sister Phidousmaris Nwachukwu of the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation, Enugu, one of the managers of the home, expressed gratitude to the FRSC for the show of love and concern.

She identified inadequate funding as the major challenge facing the home and appealed to government agencies and members of the public for sustained assistance.
