Gov. Abba Yusuf Mourns Two Kano Lawmakers Who Died Same Day

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the sudden death of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Sarki Aliyu and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, who passed away on the same day.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Kano and signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, Governor Yusuf described the near-simultaneous deaths as a dark and heartbreaking moment in the political history of the state.

According to the statement, the governor said he received the news with “deep pain and disbelief,” noting that the loss of two legislators in one day has left the government and people of Kano State in collective mourning.

“The demise of Hon. Sarki Aliyu and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu is a painful blow not only to their families and constituents but to the entire state,” Yusuf said. “They were dedicated public servants who committed their lives to the service of the people and the strengthening of democratic governance in Kano State.”

Governor Yusuf praised the late lawmakers for their commitment to legislative duties, describing them as passionate representatives who worked tirelessly to advance the interests of their constituencies and contribute meaningfully to debates and lawmaking processes in the House of Assembly.

He noted that their deaths create a huge vacuum in the legislative arm of government, adding that their experience, voices, and contributions would be greatly missed at a time when the state requires unity and collective effort to address its developmental challenges.

The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased lawmakers, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the people of their respective constituencies. He urged them to take solace in the legacies of service and integrity the lawmakers left behind.

Governor Yusuf also called on the people of Kano State to remain calm and prayerful during the period of mourning, stressing the importance of solidarity in moments of shared grief.

“As we mourn this painful loss, I urge all Kano residents to stand together and pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for comfort for their loved ones,” the governor said.

The Kano State Government, according to the statement, will work closely with the House of Assembly and the families of the deceased to ensure that appropriate honours are accorded to the late lawmakers in recognition of their service to the state.

Details surrounding the deaths were not immediately disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
