IVD Discharged and Acquitted After Four-Year Legal Battle

An FCT High Court on Monday, December 15, 2025, discharged and acquitted businessman Ikechukwu Darry Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, bringing to an end a protracted legal battle that spanned four years.

The development was announced by relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing CEO, who expressed gratitude and relief over the judgment. In an emotional post, she described the case as one marked by “years of tears and false narratives,” adding that the verdict reaffirmed her belief in the Nigerian justice system.

“It ended in praise. Nigeria’s justice system still works. I am proud of my country,” she wrote, congratulating IVD on regaining his freedom and the opportunity to rebuild his life after years of public scrutiny and legal uncertainty.

IVD’s case attracted widespread attention on social media, generating intense debate and divided opinions, particularly around issues of domestic relationships, public perception and trial by social media. The acquittal, however, brings legal closure to the matter, with the court finding no basis to sustain the charges against him.

Reacting to the outcome, Blessing CEO urged the public to draw lessons from the experience, especially regarding unhealthy relationships. She advised individuals not to remain in relationships or marriages that have become toxic or dangerous.

“If a marriage or relationship is not working, please run. Don’t wait for anybody to pass,” she cautioned, stressing the importance of personal safety and mental well-being.

Supporters of IVD have welcomed the judgment, describing it as justice delayed but ultimately served, while also calling for restraint in public commentary on ongoing legal matters.

As IVD steps into a new chapter, the case continues to spark conversations around justice, accountability, and the impact of prolonged legal battles on personal lives in Nigeria.
