The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has described the successful maiden flight of the Bayelsa State–owned aircraft, “Bayelsa Airline,” as a defining moment for the state’s development trajectory.
Dr. Ogbuku joined Governor Douye Diri on the inaugural flight from Abuja to the Bayelsa International Airport on Thursday, alongside key federal and state officials. He noted that the event marks a significant milestone not only for Bayelsa but for the entire Niger Delta region.
According to him, the achievement goes beyond the launch of an airline, stressing that it clearly demonstrates that Bayelsa State is on the right path of growth and infrastructural expansion under Governor Diri’s leadership. He added that the governor’s initiatives align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, placing the welfare of citizens at the center of governance.
Dr. Ogbuku commended Governor Diri for the bold step and the series of people-oriented projects currently being implemented across the state. He noted that “better days have truly come for Bayelsa” as more transformative initiatives continue to unfold.
Reaffirming the commitment of the NDDC, Ogbuku assured that the Commission will continue to collaborate with governors across the Niger Delta region to improve the lives of the people and deliver sustainable development. He emphasized that the NDDC remains focused on fulfilling its mandate and driving impactful progress for the benefit of the entire region.
The maiden flight has been widely celebrated as a major advancement in Bayelsa’s aviation and infrastructural aspirations, positioning the state for greater economic opportunities and enhanced connectivity.
