The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, is set to celebrate the first anniversary of its current leadership under Chairman Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, alongside its annual End-of-Year get-together.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Stanley Imgbi, the anniversary event will begin with a brief Congress session, where members are expected to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past year. The Yemoleigha-led Executive, elected on November 16, 2024, had pledged to introduce a “New Paradigm” in its operations, with Thursday’s gathering providing an opportunity to review its performance.
Comrade Imgbi noted that the appraisal of activities over the last 12 months will help sharpen the Union’s focus, consolidate progress made, and further improve service delivery to journalists across the state.
The anniversary and get-together, scheduled for 4:00pm on Thursday, will be chaired by former state lawmaker and business mogul, Chief Robert Ayalla Enogha, Chairman/CEO of Emily Global. The Guest of Honour is Hon. (Mrs.) Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, while the Special Guest of Honour is the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. (Mrs.) Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai.
The NUJ Bayelsa State Council called on all journalists and friends of the media to attend the celebration.
