“Lost in Space” Star June Lockhart Dies at 100

Hollywood is mourning the loss of legendary actress June Lockhart, best known for her iconic roles in Lost in Space and Lassie, who passed away at the age of 100.

Lockhart, whose career spanned more than eight decades, died peacefully at her home in Los Angeles, according to a statement from her family. Born on June 25, 1925, in New York City to actors Gene and Kathleen Lockhart, she seemed destined for stardom. She made her film debut at just 12 years old in the 1938 classic A Christmas Carol, appearing alongside her parents.

Lockhart became a household name in the 1950s for her role as Ruth Martin, the devoted mother in the hit TV series Lassie. In the 1960s, she captivated a new generation as Dr. Maureen Robinson in Lost in Space, the pioneering sci-fi series that cemented her place in television history.

Throughout her long career, Lockhart appeared in numerous films, television shows, and stage productions, earning two Emmy nominations and a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in For Love or Money.

Friends and fans have flooded social media with tributes, celebrating her warmth, elegance, and trailblazing presence on screen.

“June Lockhart was the definition of timeless grace,” one tribute read. “She made every role feel like home.”
