A suspected burglar narrowly escaped mob justice after he was caught carrying a stolen air conditioner valued at over ₦1.5 million in the Yenizue-Gene, Erepa-Arizona area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Residents, who spotted the man around midnight struggling to move the heavy AC unit, confronted him when he failed to give a clear explanation of its ownership. He was dragged through the streets as residents shouted and recorded the scene.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on Facebook, attracting hundreds of reactions from viewers who praised the community for their vigilance.
As of press time, the suspect had not been handed over to the police, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Residents have urged security agencies to increase patrols in the area to curb rising cases of burglary.
