The Voice of the Ijaw Girl Child (VIGC) has joined other organizations across the world to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child with an inspiring gathering of young girls, women leaders, and advocates in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
The event was a celebration of the skills, strength, resilience, and potential of every girl child. It also served as a platform to amplify advocacy for girls’ rights and promote equal opportunities for girls to become leaders and change-makers in society.
In her address, the Executive Director of VIGC, Mrs. Timipre Tobi Ebiranga, emphasized the importance of empowering young girls with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and inspiration they need to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
“Don’t allow circumstances to define who you are. You are what you think you are. There is nothing you cannot achieve if you put your mind to it. Girls should break barriers and be agents of change wherever they find themselves,”
— Mrs. Ebiranga.
