PCRC Holds Town-Hall Meeting on Security in BayelsaThe Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Bayelsa State Command, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, organized a one-day town-hall meeting on security matters at the Police Officers’ Mess, Yenagoa. Themed “Service to the Nation: PCRC, Service to the Nation,” the meeting brought together top security stakeholders, government representatives, and community leaders to deliberate on improving security collaboration across the state.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee appreciated participants for honoring the invitation and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring peace and order. Acting Chairman of the PCRC, Dr. James E. Neminebor, FCNA, in his opening speech, reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to fostering closer ties between the police and the public. He noted that security is everyone’s business and called for increased trust, intelligence sharing, and community participation in crime prevention.

Delivering goodwill messages, C.P. Agberebi Akpoebi (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, and Gen. Eric Angaye (Rtd.), Chief Security Coordinator of the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, commended the PCRC for its proactive efforts in supporting the police. The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, C.P. Alonyenu Francis Idu, in his remarks, applauded the PCRC’s partnership with the command, describing it as a vital bridge between the police and the citizens. He assured that the police will continue to strengthen community policing initiatives to make Bayelsa one of the safest states in Nigeria.

A key highlight of the event was a lecture delivered by Chief Boma Spero-Jack, former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) and one-time Special Adviser on Security to a former Governor of Bayelsa State. He spoke on the need for synergy among security stakeholders, the use of technology in modern policing, and citizen vigilance.

The program also featured an interactive session, music interlude, and refreshment. The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Pastor Diman, the Deputy Chairman of the PCRC.
