Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on Monday received a high-powered delegation from the State of Africa in Diaspora (SOAD) led by its Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Louise-George Tin, at the Government House, Yenagoa.
The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Bayelsa State Government and SOAD in key areas such as healthcare, airport expansion, the development of a smart city, and other strategic infrastructural projects that align with the Prosperity Administration’s vision.

In his remarks, Governor Diri welcomed the delegation and expressed delight that Bayelsa State was the first in Nigeria to host the group. He commended SOAD’s contributions to development across Africa and assured them of the state government’s readiness to explore areas of mutual interest.
“On behalf of the good people of Bayelsa State, I heartily welcome you to our state. We are aware of your impactful work in other African countries, and we are glad that Bayelsa is your first point of partnership in Nigeria. Our administration is open to collaborations that promote sustainable growth and improve the lives of our people,” Diri stated.
Dr. Tin, in her response, lauded Governor Diri for his developmental strides and affirmed SOAD’s commitment to supporting Bayelsa State in actualizing its goals through technology-driven and community-based initiatives.
The meeting also explored opportunities in renewable energy, tourism, and education exchange programmes aimed at empowering Bayelsa’s youth and professionals.
